My healing journey and career as an acupuncturist began during my adolescent years when I struggled with major depression exacerbated by the robotic and nauseating experience of Ritalin and Prozac. My parents introduced me to the renowned holistic psychiatrist, Dr. Alice Lee, who played a transformative role in my life.
Through supplementation and various holistic modalities, Dr. Lee brought significant healing and relief to my depression, becoming a cherished mentor in the process. The profound impact of my recovery inspired within me a deep sense of gratitude and a calling to help others in a similar way.
While still in high school, I immersed myself in learning about holistic medicine, exploring various modalities to benefit those around me before pursuing a formal degree. I trained with different holistic practitioners, many of whom became mentors over time. At the age of 17, just two years after my treatment with Dr. Lee, I began working with clients using modalities such as PSYCH-K. Despite not having a formal degree at that time, I was driven to assist individuals in addressing lifestyle, stress, mental, emotional issues, and overall well-being with the tools at hand.
Initially unconcerned, I relied on my confidence in my self-healing abilities and the supportive community of doctors and advanced students I was surrounded by. However, over time, my nonchalant attitude towards Lyme disease became a significant challenge as I grappled with a range of symptoms. I explored various herbal remedies and techniques, seeking relief and remission from the disease. While many treatments showed initial success in managing Lyme, the symptoms persisted and resurged intermittently.
My positive experiences with Chinese herbal medicine and acupuncture during this challenging period led me to pursue a degree in these fields. The profound impact of these holistic modalities on my own healing journey inspired me to delve deeper into the world of traditional Chinese medicine, solidifying my career path in helping others achieve wellness through acupuncture and herbal remedies.
As my symptoms gradually subsided, and I began to regain a sense of normalcy through the healing power of Chinese medicine, my journey of exploration and learning continued. I explored the treatment protocols of renowned leaders in Lyme disease treatment using holistic approaches, driven by persistence and a deep passion for expanding my knowledge base in this area.
Years later, on the orientation day of acupuncture school in Oregon, I stumbled upon a familiar face from my time at Bastyr. This acquaintance, now a close friend, introduced me to the Neurological Integration System (NIS), a treatment modality that piqued my interest. Initially, I approached it with curiosity, but after experiencing the profound results firsthand, I was truly amazed. While I had already achieved remission from Lyme through Chinese medicine and other therapies, NIS elevated my healing journey to a new level that exceeded my expectations.
Intrigued by the transformative possibilities of this therapy, I committed myself to mastering NIS. I attended all courses, including the advanced master’s level, and sought opportunities to shadow and learn from leaders in the field. Over the past seven years, I have dedicated myself to practicing and refining NIS, working with patients across a spectrum of disorders before focusing my attention primarily on Lyme disease treatment. NIS plays a pivotal role in my treatment model, being a core tool in establishing lasting relief and enhancing the other forms of therapy used.
Lyme disease presents a complex array of challenges that vary from patient to patient, and I have found that NIS, in conjunction with other complementary methods, is uniquely equipped to address these complexities. By integrating NIS into my practice, I aim to provide tailored and effective treatment strategies to individuals grappling with Lyme disease, leveraging the power of holistic healing to promote lasting wellness and vitality.
